Functional safety that protects people and machines

WESA engineers work with you to find machine safety risks and design the mitigations, from guarding switches and light curtains to safety PLCs, then build and install them.

Find the risk, then engineer it out

Functional safety starts with finding where a machine can hurt someone. We work with you to identify those risks and engineer the mitigations across design, programming, fabrication and installation, from guard switches and light curtains through to safety PLCs. Updating a machine's safety systems also helps meet OSHA and insurance requirements while protecting the employees and contractors working around the equipment.

Safety work pairs with the standards-compliant fabrication behind it. Panels are built to UL 508A, UL 698A, NNNY, CSA and NFPA 79, whichever the job calls for, and custom safety signage is produced in-house, so guarding, controls and labeling come from one team.

Safety systems we design and install

Hardware and controls sized to the risk on your machine.

Machine guarding switches
Guard switches and interlocks that stop hazardous motion when a door or panel opens.
Light curtains and scanners
Light curtains, area scanners and safety mats that detect a person in a hazardous zone and bring the machine to a safe state.
Two-hand controls and pull cords
Two-hand control stations and conveyor pull cords that keep operators clear of moving equipment.
Robotic and AGV safety
Robotic safety guards, AGV safety systems and advanced safety zoning for automated cells and vehicles.
Safety PLCs
Safety PLCs and modules, from a simple safety control module to a programmable safety module with multiple inputs, specified to the SIL 2 or SIL 3 rating and the performance level, PLa through PLe, that the risk assessment calls for.
